Review: Becoming A Vincent by C.M. Owens

Becoming A Vincent (The Wild Ones, #1)

Becoming A Vincent

By: C.M. Owens

When you live in a place where "turbo speed" internet is a slight step above dial-up, men carry on nine-year beard-growing challenges out of stubborn pride, and your brothers do things like nail all your panties to the outside of your cabin just for funsies, you tend to be a little crazy. You can call it "locational" hazard, if you will. That's Tomahawk for you. We rank people based on just how crazy they are. And the four craziest families in town are call the Wild Ones. I'm on the bottom tier of those, so technically I'm not as crazy as the other Wild Ones. In fact, if it wasn't for my brothers and their endless antics, I would't be considered a Wild One at all. Ahem. Sure. We'll go with that. Anyway, I have a best friend who endures it all with me. Benson Nolans is my one, constant favorite person. Without him, I'd probably go really crazy, and not the fun kind. It'd be ridiculous, after three years of a flawless friendship, to mess that all up by falling for him. I mean, even if we did get a little too close one night, it'd be reckless endangerment. Even if we did suddenly feel the chemistry that's always been there and stop toeing the line, it'd be a foolish risk to take. It'd be stupid to start hoping a really fun, but completely irrational, night with zero inhibitions might accidentally happen. Really stupid...Right?

Five Stars

This was the first book that I have read from this author, and I can definitely say it will not be my last!

This book starts off with Lilah trying to escape a cougar in the wood thanks to her prankster brothers. She makes up one third of the Vincent triplets. These triplets are known for their wild ways which makes them part of the Wild Ones. The Wild Ones are four of the craziest families in the town of Tomahawk and their antics do not disappoint. Throughout this book, you learn a lot about some of the challenges and pranks that take place in this town. There is a reason why the Wild Ones are spread out and separated by a lake. The only normalcy Lilah experiences is being with her best friend Benson. Benson is not a native to the town of Tomahawk. He  moved here and has become a fixture in Lilah's life. During the book, a challenge is lost which makes Lilah and Benson's friendship slowly progress into a relationship. This challenge makes Lilah reevaluate everything about Benson and how close they they have become. True feelings will be revealed and the pranks will continue. Will Benson and Lilah get their HEA?

"Wild Ones Tip #115 - Never trust a Wild One unless you're a fan of reckless endangerment."

I cannot say enough about this book. I have never laughed out loud so much while reading a book before. The Wild Ones Tips at the beginning of each chapter were so funny and gave you a glimpse into the next chapter. It was hard to stop at the beginning of each chapter because you were constantly wanting to know what the Wild Ones were up to and how they were going to get retaliation on each other. Lilah was a strong, independent character who stood her own ground and didn't take crap from anyone. If you were going to prank her, she was going to get you back just as good. Benson was a sweetheart who has stood by Lilah from the beginning. He never faltered in his feelings and took care of everything that Lilah's brothers messed up. This is definitely one couple that you are rooting for from the beginning.

The Wild Ones series is one series that I will be reading from start to finish. The secondary characters were such a big part of this story and kept things interesting. The writing sucks you into the character's lives as if you are actually experiencing everything with them. I am honestly anxiously awaiting for every secondary character to get their own book!
