Aly has no where to go after the fire destroyed everything. After realizing her childhood best friend was out of town for the summer, she agrees to stay in his summer house. Aly hasn't seen or talked to Emmett in ten years. Aly blames Emmett for an incident that happened in high school, and she has never really gotten over it. Emmett never really left town, and after a change meeting, they are now roommates. Tensions are high as the chemistry between them begin to grow. Will Aly ever forgive Emmett for the past or is it too much to forgive?
Aly is a character who knows what she wants and will stop at nothing to get it. She has worked her butt off throughout the years to save her family's business and that determination is evident. However, you can tell that the past affects her daily life. She is constantly second guessing everything. She wants to be this independent, self assured person, but getting over years of being second best has taken its toll. Emmett is such a sweet, sexy guy. He has always had a spot in his heart for Aly and it shows. He will stop of nothing to prove his feelings to Aly.
The scenes between these two characters are scorching hot!!! I mean fan your face and get some ice water to cool you off! You could tell their past played a big part in their chemistry and it only grew stronger! I also was thrown for a loop at the twist in the book. Most of the time, I am able to predict what is going to happen. Not in this book! I was completely shocked and never expected this type of surprise.
It is so refreshing to read a book that exceeds all your expectations. I absolutely loved this book and finished it in one day. I know, I know! You're thinking "Why only 4 stars?" While I enjoyed this book tremendously, I could not get over how they met the second time around. I just didn't find it believable. I don't want to go into details because it will spoil the book, but I just don't see how it was actually possible to get into that situation in the first place. It may just be me, but it kept bothering me throughout the book.
This is the first book that I have read from this author, and it will definitely not be my last. I need to go and read Bad Boss so I can see what happens during Julian and Sara's story. I also am going to be impatiently waiting for the infamous Drew Maddox to get his own book!! I mean WOW! What a fun and hilarious supporting character!!
