Five Stars

Wow!! L.J. Shen is the queen of making asshole heroes lovable. I read this book in one day because I absolutely could not put it down.

Alex and Indie's relationship is a push and pull from the beginning. However, Alex is oblivious to any shifts in his feelings towards Indie. He is a compulsive liar. He has lied so many times to his everyone including himself that he doesn't know what is fact or fiction anymore. 

Indie has so much depth to her character. She knows when to stand up for herself and when to let Alex have his space to think for himself. She has so much drive to help her family get out of debt that she is willing to put up with his broodiness and asshole ways, but found her attraction growing daily. 

"You look at me with dynamite in your eyes, waiting for me to light up the match and finally set you on fire."

Alex has so many demons to overcome. He doesn't realize that anyone could love him for him and not the persona he lets everyone else see. He starts to open up to Indie without realizing he is doing it. He justifies it as getting information out of her for his songs. 

"I like to live on the edge." He licked his lower lip.

"I like to live safely within the line," I retorted.

"It's a comfortable place to be, but nothing ever grows there."

As I read this story, my love for these characters had grown tremendously. You will be rooting for them so hard. However, one the surprises start coming, they come in full force. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, Shen would throw me for another loop.

I absolutely loved this book and getting to watch Indie and Alex grow together and as individuals. I also enjoyed the texting aspect that took place between Jenna, Indie, and Hudson. I thought it broke up the story nicely and added humor to some of the more serious scenes.
