SUBJECT: ENGAGEMENT CONTRACT (Marked Confidential)

FROM THE DESK OF HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS PRINCE CHRISTOPHER

Emily—Thank you for joining me for dinner tonight. And for agreeing to my proposal, as ludicrous as it is. Desperate times call for fake engagements. At least in my family.

I am attaching the contract we discussed. Our lawyers asked that I highlight the following clauses:

  • The engagement shall last ninety days
  • Both parties are to appear genuinely in love at all royal appearances
  • Beyond required public displays of affection, there shall be no contact of any kind between the parties

The first half of your payment will be deposited into your account upon the signing of this contract. Be sure to note your ring size. We would like to make prompt delivery of the family emerald. The Queen and I thank you in advance for your discretion.

Cheers,
Kit

P.S.—Sorry to hear about your divorce. Your ex sounds like a proper knob head.

P.P.S.—You looked stunning tonight.

Author Bio

Jessica Peterson began reading romance to escape the decidedly unromantic awkwardness of her teenage years. Having found solace in the likes of Mr. Darcy, Jamie Fraser (OMG love the gingers!), and Edward Cullen, it wasn’t long before she began creating tall, dark and handsome heroes of her own.

She lives in Charlotte, North Carolina with her husband, Mr. Peterson, and her smelly Goldendoodle Martha Bean. She is the author of the super sexy STUDY ABROAD and FLINGS WITH KINGS series. Check her out at www.jessicapeterson.com

Four Stars

Royal Ruin stars off with a flashback in the past. Ten years ago, Kit Thorne was a TA trying to get his PhD in Economics and Emily Kirkpatrick was one of his students. Emily was going to school so that she could open up her own design company. After receiving two separate phone calls, both of their lives are forever altered. Kit and Emily haven't spoken to each other since that day in his office. Fresh out of a divorce, all Emily is concerned about is saving her business and landing the contract at the palace. A chance encounter and bad publicity has the Queen and Prince Kit devising a plan to make Emily his fake fiancee. When tensions run high and contractual lines are crossed, will Emily learn to trust another man or will she always shelter herself with her business?

Emily has been burned several time during her life, and she has trust issues a mile long. Even with trust issues, Emily is the most carefree, funny, and spontaneous character. She believes every relationship with the opposite sex is only surface deep which enables her cut loose and be herself. It is the only way she knows to keep her heart safe.

Kit is a shell of the man he use to be. You can tell he is strictly business and has no room to enjoy himself. Only after Emily cracks through his built up wall of self preservation, do you really get to see the real Kit. He is romantic, caring, and very protective of those he loves.

I loved how Kit promised Emily over and over to trust him, and how he eased her into his lifestyle gently. He truly cherished and valued her. Kit's family also played an important role in the book. Along the way, you get to see glimpses of future happenings between the secondary characters. The epilogue alludes to Rob's book and I know without a doubt it is going to be amazing!! His playboy days are coming to an end!

This is the first book that I have read from this author, and I have already added her other novels to my TBR list!
