They’re not quite enemies. Not really friends.
More like frustrated balls of sexual tension and neither will give in.
Lance Gibson drives Mariah Malarkey absolutely
crazy. He uses her office like a phone booth, takes cupcakes from the corner of
her desk like she baked them just for him. She didn’t. Maybe she knew the
history teacher happened to love peanut butter icing, but that was purely a
coincidence. All sixteen times.
Mariah has a way of getting under Lance’s skin
too. She calls him out on his crap, spoils him even if inadvertently, and
seeing the librarian in skirts drives him wild. She won’t give in. It’s for the
best, really, considering there’s no way he could lie to a woman like that and
he’s not about to tell her the truth about himself. Not in a million years.
These two don’t hate each other. They don’t
really like each other. But for this to be a friends-to-lovers story, they have
to start somewhere, right?
Note: This can be read as a standalone novel.

Five Stars
It’s official…I love the Gibson brothers more than the
Landry brothers.
Mariah is a librarian at a high school. She has been hurt
from those she loves in the past and isn’t looking to get her heart broken
again. Lance is a history teacher and spends his free time with his family and
his many one-night stands. His motto: Why choose one women when you can have
them all? But is this all a front? Is he afraid to get attached? Is there more
to the story?
Mariah is such an intelligent heroine, but her family has continuously
degraded her. This mental abuse would bring anyone down, but Mariah has risen
above and is a better person because of it. She has amazing strength and always
tries to be the better person.
Lance is such a quick witted, funny guy who always has a comeback.
He can turn anything into a innuendo and doesn’t care what anyone thinks of him.
Lance and Mariah’s relationship is a gradual thing. Their
friends to lovers approach allowed you to really see the extent of their
feelings and how they tried to protect their hearts from each other.
The twist was heartbreaking and made me feel so bad for both
characters. They were both willing to throw away their own personal happiness for
the other person.
It never fails, Locke always brings the fun and humor to her
books. I am anxiously waiting for Machlan’s and Peck’s books. This family is crazy,
loving, and wild in a way that makes you want to be sitting at Nana’s table with
them just so that you can be apart of it.
