Our Alternate Ending
By: Katie Fox

She was the hot mess who stumbled through his door.
He was the one who gave her a chance.
When Elle Callihan finds herself on the twenty-sixth floor of the country’s top publishing firm after putting her dreams on hold for five years, she’s not about to allow the opportunity to slip through her fingers.
There’s just one problem.
Her new, humorless, this-needs-to-be-done-right-now, jerk of a boss makes her working life a living hell.
With the minutes on his own clock ticking, CEO and certified workaholic, Owen Caldwell, has no time for anything. Not relationships. Not life. And certainly not the connection that simmers between himself and his new assistant.
As the pair work together, their undeniable attraction draws them closer, bringing a realization that sometimes life and the people in it are worth slowing down for. But when Elle is presented with a plot twist she never saw coming, she quickly learns that crafting her own story may be much harder than she initially thought.
Faced with a difficult decision, she has two choices: write the truth or deliver an alternate ending she knows they both deserve.

Five Stars

I don’t even know where to begin with my review! I am completely blown away by this story. Katie truly hooked me into these characters’ lives, and I felt every emotion they felt. You know when your chest hurts because your sad and emotional, you get goosebumps because you can feel the electricity, and your face gets hot and red during the steamy scenes, that you are reading something amazing.

Elle is just trying to make ends meet and fulfil her dream of working in a publishing company. Owen has other things to worry about besides the train wreck of a woman who shows up for an interview, but he can’t seem to let his thoughts of her go. Over the course of the book, their feelings grow, but fate has other plans. Will they get their alternate ending in the end?

This book was somewhat of a slow burn because of their hesitancy to act on their feelings. Although I figured out the twist of the story early on, I still felt this intense pull to see how it all played out.
You get to a point of the story where it could go one of two ways. I caught myself several times wanting to skip to the end just to make sure the ending was the path I wanted, but I refrained. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time waiting for the conclusion.

I can’t get over the realness of this book. It makes you take a step back and reevaluate your own life. Are you really living life to the fullest, not taking things for granted, and living like there is no tomorrow?
