Kara is a heroine who has a lot on her plate and is stressed about getting her PhD. She is determined, hard working, and rarely makes time for fun.
Heath is a hockey player who is always pushing himself and others to do better. He is also trying to outrun his demons and rarely gives himself the credit he deserves.
This forbidden romance was such an amazing read. Each character had to decide what they were willing to give up to accomplish their dreams which made the story that much more enticing. Both characters had baggage that shaped their personalities and how they responded in certain situations.
Honestly, Heath was way better of a hero than I was expecting. We saw glimpses of him in Shameless King and he is portrayed as a playboy who is breaking the rules and going after what he wants without thinking of anyone but himself. However, in this book he was completely different. He almost cared too much which was what had him second guessing every decision and action he made.
I loved that it was a great mix of smoldering romance and fun times with the rest of the Kings. It was so much fun getting to peek into the other characters' lives and see more drama unfold for Emmett and Avery. I absolutely cannot wait for their story.
