Hockey players are off limits...especially if they're on your brothers' team.

The last time Jordan did that, it ended in disaster. It was easy to promise her brothers she'd never date another one of their teammates again.
Until she meets Jake.
The spark she feels when she spends time with him makes her promise harder and harder to keep.
Surely her brothers would understand breaking this promise if it means following her heart.
Wouldn't they?

Never sleep with a teammate's sister.

This is the universal rule of athletes everywhere.
Until he meets Jordan.
As soon as Jake sets eyes on her, he wants her.
The goalie's job is to see missed shots and failed opportunities on the ice.
This is one shot he's not going to miss, no matter what obstacles get in his way.

POWER PLAY is a flirty, swoon worthy sexy rom-com and the first book in the BTU Alumni series. It can be read as a stand alone. If you like hockey boys, sarcastic friends, matchmaking K9’s, too-cute-to-handle kindergarteners, fierce heroines and swoony hot as puck Alpha heroes, then you want to get to know these cast of characters. One puck head and a HEA guaranteed.

Three Stars
This was such a good debut novel by Alley Ciz, and I cannot wait to see what she writes in the future.

Jordan is making big changes in her life and moving back home. This allows her to be under the watchful eye of her overprotective brothers whether she wants to be or not. Jake is a hockey goalie and friends with Jordan’s brothers. Unfortunately, he has to abide by the promise she made her brothers about dating hockey players.

Jordan was such a fun character. She was one of the guys, had an amazing group of girl friends, and still stayed her true self even during extreme trauma.

Jake was a great guy. He was honest, straight forward, and willing to help everyone. He never tried to force the relationship. He allowed it to progress naturally, and their relationship was stronger as a result.

I also loved the suspense portion of the book. It added the right amount of secrecy to keep you on your toes.

As for the 3 star rating, there were a few things that I didn’t care for throughout the book. The book is told in third person. It is mainly based on Jordan’s and Jake’s POV, but every once in a while you would get random glimpses from some other character’s POV. This made keeping track of the narration somewhat confusing. Then it was the repeated material. Most chapters were told from one POV and then repeated from the other person’s POV. This added a lot of repetitive information that made me want to skim sections because I already knew the end result.

Overall, I thought it was a great debut book. The characters were very relatable, and the secondary characters added the right amount of banter to keep me interested in the storyline.
